Anju is junior hostess of the "Stock Pot Inn", can't cook at all and is engaged with Kafei, the Mayor of Clock Town's son against the will of her mother.

When the latter disappears short before their wedding, she sinks into depression. Only her love for Kafei and her trust in him keeps her clinging to life. Once Link agrees to help her, her willpower gets strengthened so much that she stays in Clock Town, waiting for Kafei to return, even though having to face the moon crushing the country.

Her equivalent in Ocarina of Time lives in Kakariko and breeds Cuccos(chicken) even though she is allergic to their feathers.
