Frequently Asked - Quibble...

What's this here about?

If you have been to the Mainpage, I think you should know. If not, I suggest you dedicate to the areas "About Cosplaying" and "Artist's Bio".

Who or what is "Ilionej"?

The main-protagonist, so, the biggest key point of all key points in my novels. For more information, the rubrics "The Books" and "Ilionej's World" on my novels' website are kindly at your disposal.

 P.S: It is pronounced "Eeonnay"

You write?

Yes. Since I'm 16. But until my 11th year of age I didn't even want to read. Joanne Kathleen Rowling changed my mind.

FanFiction? You write such stuff too?

I would like to kindly direct you to my FanFiction Page.

Where did you learn how to draw?

Partly it's heredity, the rest came through encouragement by my teachers(quite indirectly) or was self-taught.

Musician?

Hmm...once there was a time when I used to compose. But due to technical lacks I couldn't continue properly. Since then I'm only playing the piano for myself, the transverse flute in the Musikverein and sing at the top of my voice when I'm alone. No worries. Mostly it won't harm the neighbours. Only if I'm not turning on the volume in my earphones too much - or being hoarse. ^^;

How do you make all the jewellery? And - is that easy?

In the workshop of the Ortweinschule, as well as at home. For more, please read it the category "Artist's Bio". Detailed enquiries go either to the Guestbook or direct contacting. :) And no. It takes years of practice. And still I don't master it, or I'm too impatient. Also you may kick the thought of being able to do that on your kitchen table without bigger financial effort(or a galactical mess) right out of your head. Even I have a proper goldsmith's table and appropriate tools for the work at home. Though still I have to do the bigger works in school.

But, those who don't try, won't learn. I however assume no responsibility for injuries, fires, floods and other catastophies residing in your try.

On DeviantArt I found photos and traditional paintings / drawings / etc. as well. Why not on here?

You are here on my COSPLAY page. Here you will only find things that deal with the respective.. Please go to my Art Page for the other.

Where does your inspiration come from?

For me, inspiration can come from everywhere. It can be anything from an amazingly talented artist to a total jerk as a person, from the most beautiful sunset to a tiny piece of broken concrete lying in front of my toes. Simply anything. What my brain does with it, I often have no bearing of and therefore can do nothing but putting it down in any way.

Why do you post the creation progresses of your Cosplays online? I've seen great photos of others' finished Cosplays and a short description. I somehow liked that better.

What you like or not is your thing. Of course it would be much neater and likely more beautiful, but I will try to explain a number of my many reasons to you.

Such photos do show only the finished product, mostly with beautiful artificial colour-filters and a lot of postprocessing which make it almost impossible to see whether this madness is self-made at all(well, for the untrained eye ;) ).

Since I put a lot of time and effort into my projects and the "industrial" world is beset by mass production, many can, for example, not understand why a piece of jewellery especially crafted for them out of presumably cheap materials can cost up to ten times as much as a machine struck, machine painted piece of fallalery. You spend hours in a row on one object, often throughout days, weeks or even months, accept lack of sleep and possible injuries, only to hear people say "Why won't you sell that to me?" or "You sell it? Yip- WHAAAAAT?!?!? So expensive? Are you nuts?"

Well, not all artists want to(or can) work for the hourly wage of a textile worker in Bangladesh. The thing with Cosplay however is, there are only a few who actually get money for it. Most of us sacrifice loads of time and money only for slipping into the role of their favourite characters for a few hours. And that's exactly the point. I want people to see that I can't do magic and ta-dah, Cosplay is done. In addition I can't(and won't) afford super expensive materials like thermoplastics or machines like 3D-printers. I don't have anyone I can keep as a working slave. I make everything myself, majorly from cheap materials, and want everyone to understand that fact.

Not because I want to brag or show off, but because I'm proud of what I have learned to action, or what I could have done better even under the same circumstance.

I want everyone to be able to see it because I'm not a super genius. Surely I use my brain and e.g. try to find alternative possibilities for the usage of supposed garbage/waste, but also have I spent many hours on the internet and on books as well as have consulted people personally to help me find solutions for my crafting issues. Therefore I could not accept not to share my gained knowledge too.
So if you can't see the light at the end of your project's tunnel or have questions regarding mine, go ahead! Write a comment beneath the respective Cosplay or contact me directly! I will be glad to help as much as I can! :)

Do you sell your work?

I hope to sell the books at least. ;) Though I don't write any stories/poems, neither for money, nor for obliging anyone. If we know one another personally, it's different of course...

I'm possibly up for grabs if you need a short text translated somewhere between German and English and I'm for sure the better alternative to the Google Translator, shouldn't you have any relatives or acquaintances with corresponding knowledge.

Concerning jewellery and similar, original works are basically not for sale. However, I am indeed willing to reproduce the one or other piece. Unfortunately I cannot ship internationally yet, which means that I would prefer customers from around Austria(that one in the middle of Europe, not the Kangaroo Continent ;P ). Inherently I don't ship, nor deliver, but we could meet somewhere, couldn't we? Besides, I'd like to know whom I entrust with my hallows. But no worries. I do respect privacy.

An absolute NO to everything in connection with my FanFictions and Cosplay Costumes! Maybe posters and autograph cards later, but I'll announce that.

Pictoral wishes are up for discussion. :)

Meaning, I will not accept commissions concerning costumes, props, jewellery, paintings, photos or literary works until further notice. However this does not mean contacting me is senseless. At worst I will inform you when I could get to it earliest or refuse at all.

Anyhow I reserve all rights that are not contradictory to third party rights(so as for example in the matter of FanArt)!

Will you come to XXXX-Con? / Will you give a lecture on XXXX at XXXX-Con?

Generally I won't say no if someone wants to see me at a convention or have me giving them a lecture(be it a blast or an actual informative lesson). However, my consent does NOT mean it is settled I will be there.

Therefore I ask to contact me and ONLY AFTER MY COMMITMENT approach the organiser. Of course you may do it the other way round, since it is the organiser of a con who decides whom to pay trip, accommodation and fare and maybe I would be even more excited to be lured by a "big fish".

Concerning lectures, it would be very kind if you'd first browse this website, plug your brains and guess what I could talk about. Thus, it wouldn't make much sense to ask me at the present time to give tutorials on craftfoam or thermoplastics since I haven't worked with these materials. Please also understand that I do not have the expert knowledge of a professional yet. I can solely report from my own experience and compare it to knowledge I have gained from reading or watching. However I can refer to other Cosplayers whose experience in these areas is far bigger.

Also in the end it's me who decides on the content of my lecture. You are, if you already managed to get me to said con, welcome to attend my lecture and ask me questions afterwards.

Conclusion: consider that these wishes always take at least three.

Will you sign my thing?

Which THING!?!? In general I'd love to sign your thing, if it isn't THAT thing. Salamis made of other than human flesh are welcomed under my feather. However I have to notice that not all waterproof pens are edible. Your decision.

Meaning, I SIGN EVERYTHING NO ONE ELSE HAS COPYRIGHT ON, or genitals. Nor sex toys(except if you can guarantee they're nothing more than decoration and look extremely artistic..)

Breasts are open to dispute. I may only inform you that there are rules of conduct, not only on conventions but also in public space. If you want to get kicked out or desire to have a crime record, please keep me out of it. I have my own social goals. Thank you.

Deutsch? Who translates your page?

The German version is the "original". You are currently on the version I translated to English all by myself. Forgive me please, if you come across odd sentences.

Why does your header image seem to disappear in the navigation?

This may be due to your screen's size. Tilt your mobile device, or if on a PC, alter the with of your browser window. It used to be right on my former laptop, but on my first and on the current it's also cropped. There is no other way to fix this, sorry. I don't have the time to re-adjust 50 header images - and even if I did, you might get the same issue on another device again. This is a Jimdo thing and not my fault.

There was one more - what's that donkey doing down there?

It is there because my layout won't allow me to insert pictures neither on top or right, nor the left side of my page.

Oh wait - you mean, what's it for? Well, since I'm not government-funded, nor Cosplay is my regular occupation(which currently consists of pocket-money-collecting and unpaid study). Which means, I am consistently practically broke. So if you don't know what for you got that much money in your own pockets, or suffer from a money consuming addiction you wish to get rid of, you may invest your money in me. I'll be chuffed about backing that'll help me realise my projects. So every fart of the donkey counts.
And no worries, the money solely goes to my PayPal account where it will exclusively be used for buying materials and Cosplay supplies online.

If that's not enough for you, feel free to browse the info on my coin bank. THE INFO! NOT THE BANK ITSELF!
